The 2008 racing season was an exciting one for Buell Motorcycle Company and its family of racers, and the results speak highly of the dedication and hard work shared by all. Highlights include Buell winning the Manufacturers Championship in the MOTO-ST motorcycle endurance racing series' Grand Sport Twins class, with our motorcycles finishing on the podium in every round of that series' six-race schedule, and the American Sportbike Racing Association's Thunderbike championship, which was won by a Buell racer for the sixth year in a row.
As a former privateer racer, I understand the blood, sweat, tears, and long hours behind these victories, and I know that for many racers the biggest hurdle is finding the cash to keep it all going. So I'm pleased to announce that once again Buell is expanding its race contingency program for 2008 with the addition of more classes and sanctioning bodies than last year, and most importantly, more money available for racers.
For 2008, we're upping the program's payout to more than $1.2 million, and continuing our trackside technical support at select MOTO-ST and ASRA national races. We've also added contingency programs for the all-new 1125R, in addition to all 2003-and-newer Buell XBs.
We're committed to building great motorcycles and supporting our racers' efforts to turn them into race-winning machines. Good luck to all of them in 2008. We'll see you at Daytona.
